Grow

Every Follower of Jesus is involved in a growth process of becoming more and more like Jesus. The old-school word for this is “sanctification.” Those who make positive strides toward looking and loving like Jesus are the ones who have learned to discipline themselves in 3-things needed for spiritual growth: Truth (Bible), Community (Worship Attendance & Small Groups), and the Holy Spirit in Prayer.

To assist you in your Growth, we make resources available that will strengthen each one of these categories in your life.

Please take advantage of the resources available on the drop-down menu and keeping moving forward toward Jesus!

At PRCC we believe relationships are a key part of spiritual growth. A great way to engage with others and deepen relationships is through community groups.

SOAPS:

SCRIPTURE
Write out the verse(s), phrases, words that stood out to you and about which you want to journal.
OBSERVATION
Write down what you see in this Scripture; what about this passage “struck you” or caught your attention (e.g. what was happening, what was context, etc.)
APPLICATION
Personalize what you have read, by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. How will you be different because of this passage. Write how this scripture can apply to you today.
PRAYER

This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this scripture, or it may be a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say and journal about it.

SHARE

Share with others what God is saying to you through His Word. Be sure to take time for others to share their entries as well.

Bible Reading Plans

We want you to be devoted to Jesus Christ. Being devoted to Jesus is a life-long journey and we are committed to helping you along the way. Devotion to Jesus comes through getting to know Jesus through the Bible, what we call His Word written to you personally.  So we encourage you to use the SOAPS personal daily devotional process. SOAPS is an acronym: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer, Share.

The idea is while you are reading a selected passage from the Bible (we recommend the Life Journal Reading plan by Wayne Cordeiro) you listen for God to speak to you  (something in the reading ‘pops’ for you) and then you stop and write your thoughts down in a journal. Journaling is an excellent way to record and process what God has spoken to us. Without writing our experiences down, you may forget those blessings and some very important lessons! We recommend using the Life Journal for your journaling (free copies are available at the church office or by requesting one from the church office 805.239.4771 or office@pasochurch.com).

Prayer

At PRCC, we are convinced that prayer is our lifeblood; that the power and effectiveness of your life is directly connected to your “prayer-life.” Now, we confess that we have not mastered prayer nor do we think that everyone within PRCC is praying continuously but we are committed to making prayer as “accessible” as possible so more of us will experience the incredible privilege God makes available in prayer.

To facilitate and/or jump-start your prayer life, here are several options for you:

Every Monday at 5:30pm, we gather to pray over the requests submitted that week. Please feel free to join us in praying or come to receive prayer.
